Practice Maps

 I downloaded Dibedy's practice maps today.  I see bastions, ends, portals, bridging, and more.  Can't wait to try it!

Observations and Lessons in MCSR Ranked

 1. Wishing good luck before the match is universally acceptable so far.  

2.  Thanking your opponent is also good, unless

3.  Don't thank your opponent if they're doing good and then suddenly forfeit.  I tried that and he said something in code that I can't repeat irl.

Fourth Day

 We'll see if I get to finish a match.  I shouldn't take more than 90 minutes of time for this today, so...  be quick, fingers!

I don't know if I need to blog these quick matches.  I don't really need to record lava pool locations because they're all close, and so I think I'll make this a place to write and think my learning through.

My late evening opponent offered a draw and I took it because it's 10:30 on a school night.

Today I played a few matches.  I never forfeit.  I won 3 because of forfeit, and one draw because opponent had tech issues and requested a draw.

I probably need to learn to make the magma portal eventually.  All my opponents seem to know how and get into the nether while I'm tunneling to find normal lava underground.

2nd day ranked

 Let's see how match 5 goes.  Haven't had a completion yet.

Game 1:  I died about 5 times trying to get into the bstion without gold.  Finally traded and got into the fort, got rods, then game over.

Game 2: I got to the bastion ok, mined the chalice, then immeeeeediately died and lost all the gold in lava while panicking about piglin attack.  Still didn't have gold armor on, stupidly.  I kept playing, trying to do something to catch up but it was pointless actually.

Game 3: no deaths!  Pearl trades were too bad, so I went with only 13.  The other guy wanted a draw but I guess he got pearls from the endermen all around.

I guess you could say I was rank.  haha.  I won one to a forfeit, and lost two to actual speedrunners.  

Lessons:  play steady the way I know to do.  Don't pretend to know a bunch of tricks and fast things.  I will eventually find someone worse.

Monday test runs

 Let's see what we roll.

world 1 - nothing amazing, but I learned that if you toggle to Hard difficulty so that lava pools start things burning more, you need to toggle it off hard mode again.  If you want to live.

World 2.

two villages and a ruined portal and lava pool.

Going north for bastion or southwest, whichever is easier.  300 blocks or so.  

Found double bad gap stables in the southwest.

But it had double triple chest and I accidentally found a gold room in each rampart, under the triple chest and to the left and back a bit.  

Got good trading after that and had to toss a couple of fire res!  Got just enough obsidian.  

Using pie-ray, successfully this time.  Looking for fortess on the line of x=20, north or south from there.

went straight east and found the fort quickly.  Used a couple of pearls on the way.  Should learn to use them more, when I have many like this.

Fort was interesting.  There were numerous wither skeletons out on the exposed bridges.  I found a spawner pretty quick and blocked it off, and mined the floor.  After that I was getting so many blazes I was a bit overwhelmed.  When I got enough rods, I started to leave, panicked by so many skellies, I tried towering, but got knocked off into the lava sea!  I had fire res active, thankfully, and didn't die of fall damage.  I should have used a pearl to avoid the fall.  I did use a pearl to get out of the lava though.  Made a portal right there where I was and came out in a desert at night.  Quickly threw down a bed, not in the nether, and made the night go away.  Tomorrow I will measure and estimate my blind.

I'm only 90 minutes in!

I'm predicting I'll have to travel east generally.  I'm at 500,,4000!

Sunday Slowrun

found bastion, found fortress, in two hours.  AND.

I saw lots of mobs at night when I wanted to throw first pearls, so I crafted a bed to sleep through the night quickly ................. in the nether.

Blown up!  Intentional game design got me on a good run!

I didn't sleep in my safety bed!!!! I did so good finding a bastion and a fortress despite my pie ray not really working.  Got to the end, stronghold was way farther than I thought.  Shooting the last crystal, I got knocked into the sky and misplaced my mlg bucket.  I woke up... in the village I found near first spawn...  booooohooooo

I even made a safety bed and put it in the portal room!  sheesh.

I was at 2.32 hours.  I would have beat my pb.

another relaxing evening

 got a village quick, with lava to the east.

bastion e-raying: entity distance to 500%, add M and C, compare to the entity fraction at the top of the screen.  There would be about 30 more entities per bastion in the loaded area.  Then narrow the fov to get a heading.

I got a glitch and there were no blocks dropping when I mined gold or blocks in the bastion.  Now the game isn't saving so I bet I have to reset.

too bad!

wow.  I got the game working again.  found fortress, but not with the help of the pie chart.  that thing is still a mystery to me.

Died in the spawner room!  I'm one hour in.  If I plan and go there carefully, I can get a pb probably.  

I went straight west from the treasure bastion, just into the basalt delta area, followed some bridges and down one set of stairs.  Good luck future me.

next day: 

Collected everything a few times.  Threw it all into a lava sea.  end of story.

New world:

nearest bastion was about 25 chunks away on bad terrain.

done.  2.43 hours.

pb and late night.

used e-ray AND pie-ray!  I even used pie-ray in the stronghold and it told me the spawner was close.

phew.

feels like an accomplishment.

evening relaxation

 I have an evening without too many commitments.  

Therefore, the search for lava is on.

Then I used e-raying successfully to find a stables bastion.  died there.  

Came back, used e-raying again to find a treasure bastion.  Haven't died there yet.  Need food!

dug down, found lava, made portal, landed in fortress!  And when I stepped out of the portal I fell off the edge into lava!!!  

Now I'm looking for that hole I dug.

I'm heading northwest to look for  a bastion.

bad terrain and biomes.  I will reset.  ;(
