dug down, found lava, made portal, landed in fortress!  And when I stepped out of the portal I fell off the edge into lava!!!  

Now I'm looking for that hole I dug.  

found surface LAVA pool 441,,-11.

made new portal.  It came out to probably the same fortress.  91,,-26.

I'm heading northwest to look for  a bastion.

bad terrain and biomes.  I will reset.  ;(
